[dA update] SWITCH TO HTTPS: Both Good and BadThe original article is here:
In this article, one of the things they said was:
If you develop your own Journal Skins, or any sort of profile customizations or browser extensions, please note that only HTTPS images will be served on DeviantArt. If you’ve uploaded your Journal Skins to DeviantArt’s Journal Skins category, you won’t need to make any changes. If you have a custom Journal Skin that you’ve made on your own account (or any custom browser extensions) that includes images on an insecure site, those images will no longer be displayed. To fix this, you can upload your images to Sta.sh, or any other image hosting platform that offers HTTPS.
My reply was this:
Sounds great, other than the image stuff. I have over 60 pages of journal entries dating back years. No way in hell I have the time to go back and edit them all. So all images on them will break. And I'm not planning on doing anything about it. So hopefully you wi
[dA update] deviantART Groups FUBAR Big Time!GeneralTate and I will be doing a PSEC Video about this as soon as we can align for that, with full screen shots and everything. This journal right now, is just to give you guys a heads up on some changes that have been made within the deviantART website interface, just in case you have not encountered them yet.
Hopefully what we've seen so far is nothing more than a temporary bad idea that the staff will change its mind about (kind of like that temporary horrible new navigation bar that thankfully they regained some sense of sanity about and killed that before it became a problem, for those of you who remember it), but as it stands I would like to voice my observations and my opinions on them.
There have thus far been two sets of changes. One set has in my opinion been good, the other set is a disaster waiting to happen.
The first set is the changes that seem to have been made to the gallery view / edit system for personal deviantART Profiles The way the new thumbnails show more
A message to deviantARTI'm deeply sorry for this, because of several mistakes I made in the journal, I had to make a set of corrections. I corrected a few syntax errors and added missing words or phrases I forgot I intended to!
Spread this review; highlight it in your journal entries, conferences, organizations, everywhere you can. Deviantart needs to enforce etiquette policy, or this site will collapse! The deviantART team must listen to us.
I feel NinjaKato has pointed out some good tips that you fail to look at:
Anyone who has a brain in his head can realize that when deviantART says: "Art theft is stealing a painting off-the-wall" is a cheap way of explaining our problem; you cannot technically steal it if you didn't touch it. They tried to be funny, but they don't consider digital media as an artwork. You cannot blame people for thinking such a conclusion either. What with all the wool does staff is trying to stuff in our eye sockets over the last few years, it mak
[dA update] The CORE IssuesSometimes when complaints are made regarding what CORE is and how it is maintained, those whom are unaware of the full spectrum of things, assume that these complaints are from ungrateful users who just want free hand outs. You know, like Obama supporters (sorry, couldn't resist taking the shot hehehe). However, in most cases, this is not what is going on. There are some genuine grievances about the newest incarnation of the deviantART system, and they are pretty frickin' valid.
I am going to share with you one journal made about this, which I largely (though not completely) agree with. There are also many very good supporting comments in response to this journal as well. Though this journal may not represent the 100% full story of all that has gone on, it does represent a good chunk of what has people pissed off and disheartened. I also added in my own two cents in reply as well.
Please read this journal with an open mind.
